Dear CAWS,

As I reflect during this holiday season, there are so many things I am thankful for - our family, a new home, and especially our beautiful Pit Bull Terrier, Masuka. Thank you so much for the opportunity to share our home and lives with this beautiful creature. He is the most excited, happy, fun-loving dog I've
known. He loves the park, playing with other dogs, and trying to sneak his 70 pound body into your lap.

I can't imagine not waking up to his nose in my face - I don't need the obnoxious beeping of the alarm clock anymore. I can't imagine how much worse my bad days would be if I didn't come home to Masuka ready to help me forget about it all at the park. There isn't anything I wouldn't do for my baby pittie, and I know the feelings mutual.

In years past, I have bought Shepherds from expensive breeders, but there is nothing more rewarding than adopting a friend who has nowhere else to go, and I have noticed absolutely NO difference in the intelligence and temperament of the dog. In fact, Masuka may be smarter.

So, after rambling, I just want to say thank you to everyone at CAWS, especially DeAnna. Happy holidays; you are beautiful for everything you do.

Dear CAWS,
With the holidays coming up, I realized I never thanked you for bringing Rogue, the Bluetick Coonhound, into our lives.
Rogue and her BFF Brother, Bryce

I met Rogue through DogMode. She and my other dog, Bryce, became fast friends. The workers there would share how much she loved Bryce, following him around and always wanting to play. At the time, I didn't think my husband and I were ready for a second dog. One day after picking up Bryce from daycare, I looked through the lobby window, saw her staring after Bryce as he walked out the gate to come home, and knew she was meant to live the rest of her life with us.

Thank you for all the hard work you do to help all animals find the homes they deserve. You are heroes.

Little Angel
came to CAWS with her seven brothers and sisters.  It was obvious right away that this little girl wasn't well.  A visit to one of our gifted Vets told us the sad news.  Angel was born with a serious heart defect and would probably not live long.  We were told that she would probably go to sleep and simply not wake up.

Angel was taken in by one of our amazing fosters who wanted to make sure that she had a home for as much time as she had.  Angel had to rest most of the time but would always be looking for her 'Mom' as she lounged in her special window seat.  She may have had a weak heart but she had a strong purr.  She passed away today in her foster mother's arms. Angel, you will be missed by those who loved you...

I adopted Coco in 2003 He has become an adorable, loving very close pet and dear friend. When I adopted Coco. I remember the CAWS people telling me to “give Coco a chance and not to bring him back”. Well, I never understood what they meant by that because Coco has been a life saver, and I know that he has thought of me as a life saver as well. I could say that He saved me from being alone and I am sure He will tell everyone how happy he has been ever since that day I took him home with me 7 YEARS AGO……wow has it been that long already. He is my best friend and Coco tells me everyday how thankful he is that I came to take home with me.

Coco is very happy, healthy and we would both like to share this moment (now that he is 12 years old) to say THANK YOU!

I just wanted to thank CAWS for Tyson. He passed away March 23. I found him through Dogmode. He came from Heaven's Gate Sanctuary. Without you guys, he would have never had a chance to live in a home and have doggie brothers. I am so grateful for all that you do and for bringing Tyson into my life. I will forever be greatful!

Audrey
Audrey adopted Steve in January 2007 (shown here with Audrey's other kitty Persephone). He is a little charmer who wants nothing more than to be cuddled, petted, and played with. He loves to learn new tricks or find new things to climb on. He taught himself how to open the fridge, and his current passion is crawling on the laundry drying rack and sleeping on the wet clothes. Audrey says, “I'm so happy that Steve and I found each other. I'm grateful to know that when I get home from work, he'll always be waiting at the door for me.”
